TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Teams Pack Bags of Weekend Food for Local Kids

The teams facing off in this year’s TaxSlayer Gator Bowl weren’t wasting any time. Ahead of the 75th annual bowl game in Jacksonville on Jan. 2, the Indiana Hoosiers and Tennessee Volunteers football teams enjoyed team outings and service events, including one with Blessings in a Backpack.
Both teams showed great heart by packing 500 bags of food each for the kids served by the Blessings in a Backpack First Coast Chapter. The players also wrote inspirational notes to include in the bags.
90,000 kids — that’s one in five — living in NE Florida are at risk of going hungry on the weekends. The First Coast Chapter is serving 3,884 kids this school year.
