Local philanthropist Tabitha Furyk will receive the 2020 “Rock of the Community Award” at the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach’s annual Mineral City Celebration, to be held Saturday, May 9 at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort.

Furyk, wife of PGA Tour champion Jim Furyk, will be honored for her impact on Ponte Vedra Beach through the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, which helps children and families in need. She and her husband live in Ponte Vedra Beach with their two children.

“Tabitha Furyk is a true champion in her own right for local kids and families,” noted Vickie Cavey, president of the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach. “Through her role as co-founder of the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation, she has been active in our community, leading efforts to improve the lives of those in need.”

Through events such as the annual Furyk & Friends Concert and Celebrity Golf Classic, Cavey noted, the Furyk foundation raises funds for its Hope for the Holidays and These Kids Can Play programs while also supporting a number of worthwhile organizations, including Community PedsCare, Blessings in a Backpack, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Tabitha Furyk has also been the driving force behind Operation Shower: Held each year in conjunction with THE PLAYERS Championship, the baby shower provides gifts and supplies to expecting mothers who are on active duty with the military or whose husbands are deployed.

“The Rotary Club created the Rock of the Community Award to recognize individuals who dedicate themselves to making a positive impact on Ponte Vedra Beach,” Cavey said, “and Tabitha Furyk is amply deserving of this honor.”
